Green Building, also known as Sustainable Construction, is the practice of creating structures using processes that are water, energy and resource efficient as well as environmentally responsible, typically resulting in a healthier built environment, more efficiently run at lower costs.

Green building refers to the characteristics and quality of a structure, particularly as it relates to its construction and operational performance over its lifecycle. As such, green buildings often incorporate the use of sustainable materials in their construction, fit out and maintenance (such as recycled content or renewable resources); create healthier indoor environments through implementing biophilic design strategies (designing with nature); and feature efficient water, energy and resource use for example with low-flow fixtures and climate-appropriate landscaping (xeriscaping).
